President Nana Akufo Addo has freed 808 prisoners on the recommendation of the Prisons Service Council.
This was made known through a statement that was issued and signed by the prison service.
It was established in the statement that the President exercised his powers under Article 72 of the 1992 Constitution and in consultation with the Council of State.
The freed prisoners range from first-time offenders, seriously ill imates, very old prisoners, among others.
This pardon is a step in the right direction as Ghana’s prisons are choked.
